But a well-known brand isn't the same thing as the right service for you. Prices have shifted, competitors have emerged, and the clinical model quietly varies between providers in ways that matter. Here's what Zava's Mounjaro service actually looks like in 2026 — prices by dose, what's included, how the sign-up works, what patients say, and how it stacks up against the alternatives.

How much does Zava Mounjaro cost in 2026?

This is usually the first thing people want to know, so let's start there. Zava charges per monthly pen, with the price stepping up as you move through the dose schedule. The figures below reflect Zava's single-month pricing at the time of writing (April 2026) — prices do change, so always check the Zava site before ordering.

A few points worth flagging. The 2.5 mg dose is a titration dose — it's about letting your body get used to tirzepatide before the medication actually starts doing much for your weight. Most patients will be on it for about four weeks before moving up. Zava (formerly trading as DrEd) is registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council under registration number 9011147. Their prescribing doctors hold registration with the General Medical Council, and the service itself is regulated by the Care Quality Commission — the same body that regulates the NHS. Who is Zava Mounjaro best suited for?

Zava works well for a fairly specific patient profile. If you're in reasonable health, have a clear weight loss goal, are comfortable navigating an online service without much clinical contact, and value a well-known name, Zava delivers a solid experience.

Zava Mounjaro dosage and titration schedule

Mounjaro uses a gradual step-up schedule specifically to reduce the nausea and digestive side effects most patients experience early on. Zava follows the standard manufacturer-recommended titration:

• Weeks 1–4: 2.5 mg weekly — the starting dose. Not really a therapeutic dose for weight loss; it's about letting your body acclimatise.
• Weeks 5–8: 5 mg weekly — the first maintenance dose. Many patients start seeing real appetite changes here.
• Weeks 9–12: 7.5 mg weekly, if clinically indicated.
• Weeks 13+: 10 mg, 12.5 mg or 15 mg — higher doses are available, but by no means mandatory.

The key clinical point: your dose should be guided by your response, not by a fixed escalation schedule. Managing side effects on Zava Mounjaro

Side effects are part of the reality of tirzepatide. Most people get something, particularly in the first month and after each dose increase. The usual suspects:

Nausea. Affects roughly a quarter to a third of patients. Worst in the first week or two of each new dose, then fades. Small meals, low-fat food, ginger, and steady hydration all help.

Constipation or diarrhoea. Your gut is adjusting to a medication that slows gastric emptying. Fibre, fluids and gentle movement make a measurable difference. If it persists, your clinician can advise on appropriate laxatives.

Serious side effects are uncommon but important to know. Severe, persistent abdominal pain radiating through to your back could indicate pancreatitis — stop injecting and seek urgent medical attention. Can you get Mounjaro on the NHS instead?

You can, but access is genuinely limited. NICE guidance (TA906) recommends tirzepatide for chronic weight management in adults with a BMI of 35 or above (or 32.5 for people from South Asian, Chinese, or Black African/Caribbean backgrounds) who also have at least one weight-related comorbidity.

When you get Mounjaro on the NHS, you pay the standard prescription charge — £9.90 per item in England, or nothing at all in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Over a year, that's a maximum of around £120 versus potentially £2,000+ privately. The difference is substantial.

The catch: specialist NHS weight management services have long waiting lists, and not every area has fully implemented NICE's guidance.
